Learn how to create a bridge tournament on Bridge Champ. This guide will show you the steps to set up and manage your tournament for individuals, pairs, or teams.
This video was recorded before the September 2026 update, so some screens look different. The written steps below are up to date.
¶ Accessing the Tournaments Page
To get started, click "Tournaments" in the left-side menu. This will take you to the main tournament dashboard where you can create or manage your bridge events.
¶ Creating a New Tournament
Click "Create Tournament" at the top right. You will be prompted to select one of six formats:
- Bots: play against robots, on your own schedule.
- Pairs: the classic pairs event.
- Vugraph: broadcast a live match for spectators. See Vugraph.
- Individuals: every player for themselves, partners rotate.
- Teams: several teams compete; each team leader seats their own players from the tournament page.
- Team Match: one match between two teams, built and seated on a single page. See Start Team Match.
¶ Filling in Tournament Details
Here, you can customize your tournament details. You’ll have the option to adjust the following settings:
- Title and Description
- Upload a Logo
- Set the Start Time
- Define the Number of Rounds and Boards per Round
- Select the Scoring Method
Once you’ve configured the details to your liking, click "Create" to launch your bridge tournament.
There are many more settings than the ones above, tucked into the Details, Players, Restrictions and Billing sections. Tournament Settings explains every one of them, including the ACBL sanctioned option for Bots tournaments and what happens when your preset deals have saved positions.
¶ Finding Your Tournament
As soon as you save, Bridge Champ opens the tournament’s own page. You can find it again later under the My tab of the Tournaments page.
¶ Viewing and Managing Your Tournament
Once you’ve clicked on your tournament, you can view details, manage participants, and update settings, such as adding new directors or adjusting tournament configurations.
¶ Team line-ups (Teams tournaments)
Each team leader seats their own players for every round from the tournament page, on the website or in the app. The director keeps a Seating button on the tournament page: it opens Seating per Round, where you pick a round and set the Team Match Order (select a team and use the up and down arrows), then Save. See the Teams section.
¶ Starting the Bridge Tournament
Your bridge tournament will automatically start at the scheduled time. Players can join the lobby 10 minutes before the tournament begins. You can also manually start the tournament by opening the lobby and clicking "Start Tournament."
¶ Using the Management Dashboard
The Management Dashboard provides an overview of all ongoing tournament activities. Here, you can monitor game progress, respond to player inquiries, adjust results, and handle any issues that may arise during the tournament. It's an essential tool for ensuring your bridge tournament runs smoothly.
